Youth Department Update

Exciting news! An amazing team of hand-selected volunteers has begun the preliminary work of updating and upgrading our Centers for Spiritual Living Youth Curricula. Aside from the detailed work of checking for easy accessibility of books and music, we have been visioning and brainstorming together for a bigger idea regarding these curricula which is so rich in content.

We would love your input. How have these curricula worked for you? What would work even better? Please email Michelle Lang, RScP at mlang@csl.org.

For all of the Youth Directors, Youth Ministers, and Youth Volunteers who put in those extra hours in your youth ministry around the holidays, Thank you! You have one of the most important responsibilities at your center! Christmas can get crazy if you let it. Remember to take care of yourself over the Christmas holiday so you can be in service to your youth with clarity and grace. Here are some ideas for nurturing yourself – in case you’ve forgotten:

  1. Attend a service! If you have more than one service at your center be sure to attend one. If there is only one service, bring in a substitute for yourself so you can attend. This is a simple yet often overlooked way to get recharged.
  2. Take a day off! Plan a “Sabbath” day so you can rest and return rejuvenated.
  3. Call your prayer partner or spiritual practitioner more often during the holidays.
  4. Get organized. Power through one whole day of planning, organizing, and preparing for a few Sundays in advance so as Christmas arrives most of the detailed work is done and you can focus on your family.
  5. Meditate. Create small pockets of meditation time throughout your day. It will do wonders.
